Temporary road closures to be aware of in Beccles next week
1 day ago · There are two temporary road closures to be aware of in a market town next week. Suffolk County Council has announced the temporary closure of Puddingmoor Road and part of Rigbourne Hill in Beccles. The closure on Puddingmoor Road is to facilitate the inspection of a retaining wall and will operate between 8am to 5pm on November 18.
Cloth has opened in Bungay by former Wightman's employee
Oct 8, 2024 · A former employee of a former homeware store used by generations of people in a Suffolk town has launched a new shop. Pamela Plews has opened Cloth in Earsham Street, Bungay, following the closure of H Wightman and Son earlier this year. The store makes bespoke curtains, blinds, and upholstery and supplies upholstery fabrics.

Beccles Quay to get free parking for boat users next year
1 day ago · Beccles Fenland Charity Trust has decided to give all annual moorers free parking at Quay car park in Beccles from April next year. Paul Cunningham, town clerk and member of the trust, said the idea was proposed to increase the number of annual moorers. He said: "We have more vacancies for annual moorings than we normally have."

Beccles Townlands Charity ‘Feoffees’ donated £10,000 for the gates

Demand for answers over towns' worst flooding in 50 years
Dec 29, 2020 · Community leaders are looking for answers following the worst flooding recorded in the Beccles and Bungay area for 50 years. Many homes were devastated in the floods that started on Christmas Eve, with some properties still uninhabitable. Businesses were also affected, including Beccles Lido, which has been forced to close this week.
