That second mission is to the south pole and the hopper will visit a permanently shadowed region (PSR), a very small shallow one.

At one point a group went out to the carrier USS Enterprise and they asked how the data was used. A sailor showed them the teletype in the corner, which received the ship location information from a satellite.
