From its establishment in 1801 to recent historical events, Anderson County has influenced the role of the state in the nation, and the role of the nation in the world. Its 2010 population was 75,105. Anderson County sits along the beautiful Clinch River and boasts numerous cultural activities and historical sites.

The Anderson County Archives provides records for researching the origins and history of Anderson County, Tennessee. The Archives provide public access to all holdings with the exception of the juvenile records.

The Anderson County Assessor of Property sets an appraised value on each parcel of land located in Anderson County and lists any improvements on it for assessment purposes except for public utility and railroad property.

The County Commission is the county legislative body of Anderson County Government. It is composed of sixteen members chosen by partisan election, with two representing each of the county’s eight election districts. The constitution of Tennessee provides that counties are an extension of the state.

The Anderson County Register of Deeds Office was the first in the country to provide access to its indexes and images via the internet. This service began on March 24, 1997 and has been operational ever since.
