South Korea’s parliament voted to impeach prime minister and acting President Han Duck-soo Friday, less than two weeks after parliament stripped President Yoon Suk Yeol of his powers over his short-lived martial law order that plunged the country into political chaos.

South Korea’s opposition-controlled National Assembly has voted to impeach the country’s acting leader Han Duck-soo. The assembly approved the impeachment motion in a 192-0 vote. Han’s impeachment further deepens South Korea’s political crisis and damages its international image.

The impeachment of Han Duck-soo, acting president since Yoon was impeached on Dec. 14 for declaring martial law, has thrown South Korea's once-vibrant democratic success story into uncharted territory.
