Just before 6 a.m., the Federal Aviation Administration had ordered all American Airlines flights grounded in the U.S. at the airline’s request.

Travelers resumed their plans Wednesday after an American Airlines glitch grounded flights for about an hour on Tuesday, just as passengers tried to reach their holiday destinations. The carrier lifted the order after initially issuing a statement saying it was working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible and apologized for any inconvenience travelers may experience.

While Americans on the east coast brace for snow, on the west coast some are facing flooding and high surf warnings.
