Developers of the first Stargate data center in Abilene, Texas, have submitted an application to site a natural gas plant with the data center, according to public filings.

Developers for the first Project Stargate location have filed permits for a natural gas plant on-site.

Stargate's first data center campus, located in Abilene, will be about 875 acres, but only says it will create at least 57 jobs.

The Stargate build-out is apparently already underway in Texas, and the power requirements of the site have yet to be disclosed but are likely to be significant - DCD reported last year that OpenAI presented a plan for 5GW data centers at a briefing for White House officials.

Despite its massive scale, Stargate intends to employ “at least” 57 full-time employees earning an average wage of just $57,600 annually, according to documents seen by Bloomberg regarding the ambitious data center project.

The Stargate project aims to secure American leadership in AI, protect US national security, and create hundreds of thousands of jobs.
