Los Angeles County firefighters worked to gain access to the crash site through an access gate to the Whittier Narrows Dam.

Rescuers saved a person who fell from a water intake tube at Narrows Dam using ropes and specialized equipment.

However, it could be the last summer of play at Pico Rivera's historic Streamland Park as a massive repair and expansion project on the bordering Whittier Narrows Dam could begin next year.
