January 20th will be the day that two sides of America’s personality come together to celebrate their pursuit of very different American dreams - equity vs equality.

The two events are coinciding for just the third time since 1986, when the civil rights leader’s birthday was first honored as a national holiday.

Activists and organizations are holding rallies leading up to MLK Day and convening meetings with state lawmakers to strategize on how to safeguard policies and avoid funding cuts to social service programs that largely support Black and Latino communities.
