The Chicago Bears are set to add a former New Orleans Saints defensive line coach to the staff on Dennis Allen’s side of the ball:

Dennis Allen was fired as the Saints head coach on Nov. 3 and will now run the defense for new coach Ben Johnson in Chicago.

With Richard Hightower returning to run special teams, Coach Ben Johnson has the key pieces of his staff in place.

We spoke with John Sigler of Saints Wire to give us a rundown on what we can expect from new Bears defensive coordinator Dennis Allen.

The reason: he was Johnson once. Allen, the Bears ’ new defensive coordinator, was a 39-year-old first-time head coach when the Raiders started their 2012 regular season. Johnson will be 39 when the Bears play their first game with him as their head coach.

Several players who had roles in the Saints defense of new Bears defensive coordinator Dennis Allen could be available should his new team need help.

The Chicago Bears have hired Dennis Allen as defensive coordinator and Declan Doyle as offensive coordinator under new coach Ben Johnson.

The Bears are bringing in former New Orleans Saints head coach Dennis Allen as defensive coordinator. Chicago has also hired Denver Broncos tight ends coach Declan Doyle to serve as the offensive coordinator and is retaining special teams coordinator Richard Hightower.
