21 States Increase Minimum Wage in 2025
Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Vermont, Virginia and Washington raised their minimum wage on Jan. 1, according to an ABC News report.

The other states with minimum wage increases put into effect by their own residents were New York, which now has a $15.50 hourly rate — $16.50 for those working in New York City, Long Island, and Westchester County — and Michigan at $10.56.
