Tens of thousands left without power as howling winds blow through Kansas City metro
More than 28,000 customers were without power Wednesday morning as howling winds from a powerful winter storm blew through the Kansas City metro area, utilities reported. Evergy reported as of 7:30 a.m. that as many as 21,209 customers had no powers.
Crews working to restore power around Kansas City after wind, snow lead to widespread outages
Evergy said customers with the most extensive storm damage are in St. Joseph, Lee's Summit and south of the river in Kansas City. For customers in those areas, power isn't expected to be turned back on until Thursday night. BPU said crews will work through the night and expects outages to be restored by Thursday night.
