The second in a series of atmospheric river storms is set to arrive in Northern California on Monday, prompting flood watches for much of the region and a winter storm warning up in the Sierra.

It could rain for many hours each day in the middle of next week as the edge of one of these storms takes a swing into Southern California, forecasters say.

Heavy precipitation is falling mostly in mountain areas. A flood watch in also in effect for the coast of central California, including the San Francisco Bay Area and Sacramento Valley.
