There are indeed pot throwing opportunities here, but you may well have to queue for them. My personal feeling is that this museum, excellent though it is, may not be the best place for very young children; particularly the 6 year-old may get bored here.

The museum is very much a pottery frozen in time. So, some of it is on ground floor level whilst other aspects are on an upper level. I have two children, and were we visiting when they were the age of yours, we would probably have left the pushchair or buggy in the car and used an infant carrier or papoose for this visit. Definitely worth a visit and plenty to talk to baby about on the way round.
Can you get to the museum on public transport if you are staying near the centre?

I've just had a look and you can get the train from Stoke on Trent to Longton. Then it's a five minute walk to the museum. You may be able to get a bus too but I couldn't find any details. Stoke on Trent Tourist Information were very helpful so may be able to tell you. Their number is 01782 236000.
I am thinking about visiting with my 6 -7 yr old grandson on April 1st/2nd. He loves clay and desperately wants to have a go at throwing on a wheel - will he be able to do so at any time over that weekend and do I need to book beforehand please?
A:
He'd probably be able to as we went a couple of weeks ago and could .
