Scenic road and MUCH better shape than Notom Road. High clearance two wheel could manage this if not wet. We started at Cannonville, took the side road to Grosvenor Arch then on to HWY 89 to Kanab… Full review by Jayco-man

Wonderful views BUT ask first about the road : where, how (muddy, dry,...) and if you can, at least a SUV, or better, a 4WD ! Full review by Jean-Michel C
Hi Can anyone give me information on how to find out if this road is accessible....i.e. On the day you plan to travel. We will be driving south to north on 1 April....(April fools day!) Thanks Gemma

Hi! I don't think you can get much information about the condition of the road, because it's a gravel road and it can suddenly get pretty extreme after heavy rain. We had a 4x4 vehicle so it was pretty easy to get through some rough spots, though it was dry. However, if you visit Kane county travel center you may get some advice or an idea of how the road may look like. It's incredibly beautiful area! Have fun!

Definitely. Cottonwood is part of the Grand Staircase/Escalante National Monument and is overseen by the BLM. Allll the 1.9 million acres of GSENM is open camping - the area along Cottonwood-Skutumpah has a number of beautiful camping sites (no facilities of course) or you can simply find your own spot! Willis Creek, Lick Wash, Bull Valley Gorge (great sites along Bull Valley & this can be a great backpacking trip into the Paria Canyons...), Hackberry Canyon & Round Valley Draw are all real nice. When you get to this area you should get the BLM GRAND STAIRCASE Visitor Information map --- it will have the topo, trails etc. , available at the Kane County Travel Center or BLM Visitor Center. Enjoy!
